Successes of students and teachers of the Academy of Performing Arts, University of Sarajevo

In the period from the beginning of the winter semester of the academic 2020/2021 in addition to regular teaching activities that were adjusted to epidemiological measures and recommendations, students and teachers of the Academy of Performing Arts of the University of Sarajevo were active in extracurricular activities.

1Lazar Dragojević, a graduate of the Department of Acting, won the Best Debutant Award at the 14th Mostar Film Festival (MOFF) for his role in TAKE ME SOMEWHERE NICE, directed by Ene Sendijarević, and also got one of the main roles in the Netflix series which is filmed in Spain. 

From 27 October to 1 November this year, the Bosnian Film Festival was held in New York, where screenings were made as part of the teaching process at the Academy. These are the film ŠMRK directed by Alen Šimić and the film GOMILA MATERIJALA directed by Sajra Subašić. In addition, two feature films by our teachers were part of this year's selection. Senior assistant Nermin Hamzagić presented his debut PUN MJESEC, and the multi-award winning film by screenwriter and full professor Dr. Elma Tataragić ŠAVOVI.

At the International Student Meeting SKOMRAHI 2020, organized by the Faculty of Dramatic Arts Skopje, held from 1 to 5 November, the Academy of Performing Arts presented the films filmovima MOJ TATA KLOVN by Sara Ristic, PLEHAN by Luka Vlaho, B4 by Alen Šimić, GRAD KOJI MRZIM by Gabrijel Lazić, OŽILJCI by Almir Zoletić, GORKA DINJA, SLATKI PELIN by Tin Kopić, and a recording of the play GIDIONOV ČOVR, by the diploma work of the students of the Department of Acting Matea Mavrka and Simonida Mandić.

From 11 to 18 November, the 3rd International Bosnia And Herzegovina Looks Around Festival was organized in the German city of Bottrop, where the student films MOJ TATA KLOVN by Sara Ristić, PLEHAN by Luka Vlaho, B4 by Alen Šimić and GRAD KOJI MRZIM by Gabrijel Lazić were shown. In the accompanying program, a screening of the film FULL MOON by senior assistant Nermin Hamzagić was held.

The short film in preparation by DAR continued in the teaching process on the subject of screenplay, a student of the Department of Directing Isidora Ratković and a student of the Department of Production Ines Radić, was chosen as the best project at this year's Pitching Forum Industrija Mladost, held as part of the 18th Zagreb Film Festival 2020. As a reward, they received consultations, project elaboration and three days of work in the studio on the production of post-production of the painting, production of a film poster, and 1,000 euros of production funds.

The collection of stories THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF ALL WORLDS by Almir Imširević, a full professor at the Department of Dramaturgy, was presented at the BOOKSTAN 2020 International Literature Festival. Actor Speech Assistant at the Department of Acting, actor Sanjin Arnautović, participated in the international project Broadway Across Borders, in which, adapted to the conditions of the pandemic, the virtual musical SPRING AWAKENING was recorded, directed by Aaron Thielen and directed by Ryan Nelson-a.

The next period will be full of festival activities and we can already announce that at the Student Theater Festival, organized by the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, which will be held in late November, there will be a public reading of the play NA GRANICI by Emina Kovačević, a graduate of the Department of Dramaturgy. 

From the beginning of year 2020/2021, several teachers of the Academy of Performing Arts have achieved advancement in academic titles. Dr. Elma Tataragić was elected a full professor for the field of Screenplay, Sanja Burić for the field of Acting, and Aida Begić - Zubčević for the field of Directing, while Adnan Lugonić was promoted to the title of senior assistant for the field of Dramaturgy.

The POSTFEST 2020 festival, organized by the Association of Students of the Academy of Performing Arts, will be held in the first half of December this year in a new online format. The festival will focus on student drama texts, and three drama texts by students from different academies in the region will have a public reading via the Zoom platform. The texts will be read by students from academies from Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka, Zagreb, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Cetinje and Skopje. In addition, there will be numerous panels, discussions and workshops, all of which will be available to follow via the POSTFEST YouTube channel.
