SC Ministry of Economy Financed 150 Students in New IT Vocational Study Programs

Sarajevo Canton Economy Minister Haris Bašić signed on 11 November 2019, contracts with the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Natural Sciences and Mathematics Deans: Jasmin Velagić and Mustaf Memić and the BIT Alliance Director Tatjana Vučić on the financing of education for 150 students of vocational study program “Software Development” for the first and second years.

The Ministry of Economy will provide a total of 280,000 BAM for this purpose, namely: 83,000 for 49 ETF students and 197,000 BAM for 101 Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics students. From this year’s budget, the Faculties will be allocated 156,000 BAM for this purpose, and in the next remaining funds.
“The Ministry finances with a new enrolment policy education for students for whom the well paid employment can be found immediately, what is the job of the future, and which young people can stay in BiH,” said Minister Bašić at the moment.

Dean Memić expressed his gratitude to the Minister Bašić and the SC Ministry of Economy for deciding to fund these studies with students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Alliance which, together with the two mentioned Faculties, developed the curriculum and started this vocational study.

“At our Faculty in agreement with the BIT Alliance, the best candidates for students in this course are selected, through entrance exams” explained Dean Velagić.
Also of interest the important role of Ministry of Economy is emphasized, which is fully aware that there are currently a large number of IT engineers in the labor market who have decided, in the interest of stimulating the development of the IT industry, to fund this vocational study.

Director Vučić expressed her expectations and hope to explore this and similar project in all Cantons and Republika Srpska.
On this occasion, it was stated that the Faculties are expected to best organize and hold this study, keep evidence of the fulfillment of students' obligations.

It was pointed out that this pilot project believes in its success, as well as in its example and in other industries in the near future.
