Cooperation among University of Sarajevo, Embassy of Kazakhstan for BiH, TURKSOY and Yunus Emre Institute
On Friday, 7 February 2020, H.E. Tolezhan Barlybayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to BiH Herzegovina based in Zagreb, Mr. Amel Dizdarević, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan to BiH, Doz. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı, Assistant Secretary General of TURKSOY, Mr. Fatih Aliyi, Project Coordinator for the Balkans at TURKSOY, and Mr. Mehmet Akif Yaman, Director of the Yunus Emre Institute visited the University of Sarajevo Rectorate. They were received by Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and Vice-Rectors: Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Nikolić and Prof. Dr. Maida Čohodar Husić.
During the meeting, possible forms of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo, the Embassy of Kazakhstan for BiH, the TURKSOY International Organization of Turkophone Culture and the Yunus Emre Institute were discussed. Particular attention was directed to the discussions marking the 175th anniversary of Abai Kunanbaev's birth, and a joint arrangement of a symposium and promotion of a book of selected works by this famous poet, prose writer and thinker at the University of Sarajevo was agreed at the meeting.
The possibilities of cooperation in the field of culture and art between the institutions present at the meeting were emphasized, and the connection of the University of Sarajevo with the universities from the Turkic speaking countries, especially with the universities in Kazakhstan, with the aim of achieving academic cooperation and exchange of teachers and students.
Previously successful cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute has been highlighted, and it was agreed to sign a cooperation agreement between the University of Sarajevo and TURKSOY in the coming period.
