A Commemorative Session in Honor of Prof. David Kamhi (1936–2021)

Održan komemorativni skup povodom smrti prof. Davida Kamhija (1936–2021)

At the age of 85, Prof. David Kamhi, doyen of violin art and pedagogy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, passed away.

Except for his violinism, we will remember David Kamhi as a valuable participant in contemporary Bosnian history. He was active in the Jewish synagogue, researcher of the Jewish past, cultural attaché of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Spain, one of the co-founders of the Interreligious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participant in talks on the past, present and future of his homeland of Bosnia and Herzegovina. (...)

We will remember him as a humble man, but with a strong echo of his talent, will and dedication in the fields of his artistic musical practice. It will be hard for us to find a worthy replacement for him! (From the eulogy of Dr. Ivan Čavlović, UNSA Prof. Emeritus).

A commemorative session in honor of Professor David Kamhi was held at the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, on 16 March 2021. Due to the extremely complex epidemiological situation in Sarajevo Canton, the meeting was closed to the public. The funeral of Professor David Kamhi took place on the same day, 16 March 2021, at 14:30 pm at the Bare Cemetery.
