The National and University Library of BiH participated in the annual conference COBISS - COBISS Meet 2020
The Institute of Information Sciences in Maribor (IZUM) organized a virtual COBISS conference, COBISS Meet 2020, from 1 to 3 December 2020.
In 1991, IZUM promoted the COBISS system (Cooperative Online Bibliographic System and Services) as an upgrade of the mutual cataloging system. Then he started using the same acronym for the corresponding software. Libraries from Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Albania have cooperation with IZUM, and today they are building autonomous library information systems on their COBISS platform with mutual cataloging in the COBISS.net network.
The conference was attended by a large number of librarians whose libraries are in the COBISS system. Greetings were sent by others, among others. Aleš Bošnjak, director of IZUM, Bhanu Neupane on behalf of UNESCO. Exhibitors, colleagues from IZUM presented news in the COBISS system.
The conference was opened by Miran Petek, with a presentation on digital repositories. Janita Tacer Slana presented the news in COBISS +. Tadeja Brešar spoke about the normative database for the subject labels. On the second day of the conference, Tanja Turšek took us through the news in COBISS3. Tanja Žuran Putora spoke about the online inventory. Sergej Lah presented COBISS as a social network, and Boštjan Batič observed the achievements of mCOBISS in the COBISS.net network. On the third day, Miran Petek spoke about the academic digital base of Slovenia, Romana Muhvič Šumandl about the news in customer support, Bojan Štok interestingly presented the development of the architecture of the COBISS system. Gordana Mazić spoke about the normative file. These topics are essential issues of the current library activity.
Each day after the presentation, participants asked questions and received answers immediately. It was a real interaction, because every system and set of systems must work in interaction - that is exactly COBISS.
NUBBiH is an active member of the COBISS system and participated in the work of this online annual Conference - COBISS Meet 2020. NUBBiH Director, Dr. Ismet Ovčina is also the president of the COBISS-net Council, whose members are the directors of national libraries and the heads of the Centers of the members of the COBISS-net system.
