University of Sarajevo students had the opportunity to attend a lecture and inspiring story of the first Nepalese billionaire Binod Chaudhary about dreams, fighting and success at a lecture held on in the UNSA Ceremonial Hall on Friday, 10 May 2019.

Binod Chaudhary is the first Nepalese billionaire on the Forbes list of billionaires, where he has been ranked since 2013. He is the owner and CEO of CG Corp Global (www.cgcorpglobal.com), a multinational conglomerate of 122 companies on five continents and 76 reputable brands in the global market. He achieved the international reputation in the consumer goods industry as a man behind Wai Wai Noodles, the most famous brand of Chaudhary Group. His business interests are also focused on electronics, hospitality, infrastructure, education, telecommunications and real estate.

UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj thanked Mr. Binod Chaudhary for visiting the University of Sarajevo and expressed interest in meeting and discussing with the University’s academic community. In addressing students, Rector Škrijelj said that the life path of speaker proved that a life filled with attempts inspired more than life that was exhausted by excuses.

Mr. Chaudhary is considered one of the greatest philanthropists of today. His investments in education and empowerment of women were noticed, and in 2015 he was on the front page of Forbes Asia as one of the 40 outstanding givers in the world as he invested millions in the reconstruction of the country and the construction of houses, after a devastating earthquake that hit Nepal.

“For being in the Bosnia and Herzegovina for the very first time, I am very impressed” said Mr. Chaudhary before the lecture’s beginning, and on the question of whether he intends to invest in BiH, he said that he would love it because the country liked him and is similar to his country Nepal.

During the discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Vice- Rector for Finances, Mr. Binod Chaudhary spoke about his experiences as an entrepreneur and philanthropist, as well as about socially responsible business.

Mr. Chaudhary made it big himself and he likes to say that he is a small man from a small country with big dreams.

“The first thing you need to be big is that you dream a lot. To believe in yourself to build self-confidence, think outside the box. Do not be discouraged and make excuses like: I'm not coming from the right country, the country is not on my side, politics is not on my side, my parents are not millionaires. Today there is a new type of business that succeeds regardless of everything. The most important is the strength of the idea and the courage to put those ideas into reality” Chaudhary told students who had many questions about his success.

He is the author of the inspirational autobiography “Making it Big.” So far, the book has been published in several languages, and promotions have been held throughout Asia, the United States, and Britain. In Serbia and Montenegro, the book was published under the title "Conquering the Peaks", and the book is expected to be published in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
