Lecture by Dr. sci. Roman Štukelj on Research within the Framework of a Bilateral Project between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia

On 10 December 2024, an interesting and educational lecture entitled “Active substances in hemp, extraction and analysis” was held at the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Pharmacy, which was attended by third-year students and interested academic staff.
The lecture was given by Dr. Sci. Roman Štukelj from the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Ljubljana, as part of the implementation of a bilateral project between the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Pharmacy (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the Faculty of Health, University of Ljubljana (Republic of Slovenia) entitled "Determination of the content of heavy metals and secondary metabolites in hemp samples (Cannabis sativa L.) collected from areas polluted with heavy metals."
The project leader on behalf of the UNSA Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Ervina Bečić, in her address, emphasized the importance of such projects and scientific meetings for improving research capacities and creating new opportunities for future cooperation.
The lecture aroused great interest, and the discussion that followed was extremely interesting and useful. The participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge on the extraction and analysis of secondary metabolites of hemp, hear basic information about the project, but also exchange information on the current legal regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Slovenia.
Such academic events represent an excellent opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, the development of new research ideas and the strengthening of cooperation between universities in the region. The organizers expressed the hope that similar projects and meetings will become a regular practice in the future.
