The Celebration of University of Sarajevo’s 71st Anniversary
2 December 1949 remains permanently recorded as the start of a change in the Bosnian paradigm. 71 year ago on 2 December, the University of Sarajevo was established. The first university in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s founding day is one of the most important dates in our country’s history, as confirmed by events that followed.
The 71st anniversary of each institution is an opportunity to stop, look at the past and shape its near and distant future. The challenges at the end of the second decade of the 21st century were enormous for all of humanity. Once again, it has been shown that science and knowledge, as well as research work, are crucial in the creation and survival of life and the values of civilization that we inherit.
The 71st anniversary of the University of Sarajevo will be traditionally marked in December, with the following events:
