Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Admir Katica provides support to students of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies at UNSA

On 29 November 2024, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Sarajevo, Admir Katica, visited the University of Sarajevo - Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, and on that occasion he met with Dean, Prof. Dr. Jasmin Ahić and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nermo Halilović-Kibrić hung out with the students of our faculty. About 30 students from different years and study cycles talked to the minister for almost two hours and asked numerous questions, from the possibility of more effective professional practice, to the realization of an internship, to the final establishment of employment in the Police Department of the MUP of Sarajevo Canton. Minister Katica announced to the students that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton will announce a public competition for interns in the coming year, where one of the conditions will be the completion of the Faculty of Criminalistics and Criminology and Security Studies, and invited them to apply. However, what motivates the students the most is the fact that changes in the law in the last two years have returned the profession back to the police and that after completing their studies they will be able to apply for a job in the profession through fair and transparent procedures. "The amendments to the law that we passed and the positioning of the profession in the Sarajevo Canton clearly show our determination that educated, trained and professional personnel enter the police force and that, in fact, everyone does their job. That's why criminal, criminological and security professions are positioned in the law because people who have completed that profession should take care of citizens' safety. We are proud of our transparent admission procedures that we implement, and I am glad to hear that it resonated with young people who opt for this profession," Minister Katica said. The exceptional cooperation between the Faculty of Criminology, Criminology and Security Studies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton was emphasized through the education of students in which the employees and police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton actively participate. At the end of the meeting with the students, Minister Katica invited them to join the campaign to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse in the Sarajevo Canton, which will be carried out for the next 30 days, called Sharpen the mind - a substance at a distance.
