The Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo (EFSA) is a partner in the implementation of the CREATURES project - Promoting Creative Tourism through new Experienced Sustainable routes, supported and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (IPA) trans-national cooperation program INTERREG V-B ADRION.

The project aims to improve the sustainability and competitiveness of the tourism sector by empowering the cultural and creative industries in an innovative way. Recommendations for the adoption of relevant policies, the creation of action plans at the local level as well as the implementation of various pilot activities will provide new strategic tools to decision makers in the field of cultural and creative industries.

The CREATURES project will contribute to the promotion and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of the Adriatic-Ionian region in sustainable and innovative ways such as the development of mobile applications and multimedia installations for tourists in the region. Cultural and creative industries are key bearers of the project idea of developing new forms of experiential tourism through the creation of #CreaTourES routes.

The project consortium consists of a total of eight partners from six countries: Metropolitan City of Bologna, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, Patras Science Park SA, Athens University of Economics and Business Research Center, Regional Development Agency Dubrovnik-Neretva County - Dunea, The Regional Directorate of National Culture, Vlorë and the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo.

The first project meeting was fully held online, on 22-23 April 2020 with the presence of all partners. One of the basic conclusions of the meeting is about the importance of raising awareness of the importance of the project idea - empowering the tourism sector in innovative ways - given the seriousness and permanence of the consequences of the current coronavirus pandemic.
