German Studies Department Membersat the 5th International Conference of the German Studies Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The 5th International Conference of the German Studies Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina entitled "Jugendsprache und Jugendliteratur" was held at the University of Mostar "Džemal Bijedić" Faculty of Humanities from 25 to 27 September 2025. The conference brought together German studies scholars from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Germany and Austria.
The guests were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Lejla Žujo-Marić, Vice-Dean for Education at the University of Mostar "Džemal Bijedić", Prof. Dr. Sanela Mešić, President of the German Studies Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Prof. Dr. Anisa Trbonja-Omanić on behalf of the organizing committee.
The Faculty of Philosophy, as the headquarters of the German Studies Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, made a special contribution to this important academic event. Prof. Dr. Sanela Mešić, actively participated in the conference who also acted as an organizer and presenter. In addition to her, the following members of the Department of German Studies presented their papers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mersiha Škrgić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lara Hedžić, Dr. Anja Orozović, Verena Gruber, Karima Elsayed and Nedim Livnjak, a lecturer and doctoral student at the Doctoral Study in Linguistics. In addition to Prof. Dr. Sanela Mešić and Prof. Dr. Alma Čović-Filipović, Dr. Anja Orozović, Verena Gruber and Karima Elsayed participated in the organizing committee from the Department of German Studies.
Plenary lectures were given by Prof. Dr. Urška Valenčić Arh from the University of Ljubljana and Dr. Nico Elste from the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg, which further enriched the conference with top-notch professional contributions.
At the closing ceremony of the conference, the proceedings of the 4th conference of the German Studies Society on the topic "Grenzen, Chancen, Räume" were promoted, edited by Prof. Dr. Amela Ćurković and Prof. Dr. Alma Čović-Filipović, and the publication of which was supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science.
During the three-day program, numerous presentations were presented in the field of German linguistics, literature and didactics, and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo is proud to highlight the active participation of its teachers and associates at this important international conference.
