UNSA Faculty of Architecture students participated in the workshop “Sarajevo Urban Design Lab”

Last week, students of the final year of master studies at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, within the subject City and Man, participated in the workshop Sarajevo Urban Design Lab, where they researched and searched for answers to what they represent, why they are in the state they are today and what the Quadrant B (Marijin Dvor) and VMC (Vaso Miskin Crni) sites might look like.

Sarajevo Urban Design Lab project, which is sponsored by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and in cooperation with the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and the municipalities of Centar Sarajevo and Novo Sarajevo, is implemented by superwien and OSNAP.

Premises covered at the workshop, led by experts from Vienna Roland Krebs (superwien), Christoph Hinterreiter (OSNAP), and Doz. Dr. Nasiha Pozder and Andrea Pavlović from the Faculty of Architecture UNSA, as well as Irfan Salihagić (OSNAP), were recognized as a kind of brownfield space and through previous analyzes of more than twenty locations in the six Sarajevo municipalities, were selected in cooperation and with the consent and support of local communities.

The synergy of all involved actors and participatory approach advocated by this project, and the creativity of young people who have the opportunity to learn in such workshops outside the mandatory curriculum and specific tasks, are a guarantee of optimal decisions and we believe that the end result will be to the satisfaction of citizens Sarajevo, but also lead to a consensus between the profession, the government and investors.

The project was also supported by the Association of Architects in BiH and the Days of Architecture.
