The Ministry of Culture and Sport of Sarajevo Canton, in cooperation with ACAR EVENTS, has launched the "Teqball in Schools" project, with the aim of bringing this attractive sport closer to young people and opening new opportunities for physical activity, socializing, and competition.

In the first phase of the project, more than 20 Teq tables will be awarded to primary and secondary schools, faculties, student dormitories, and other institutions of importance to Sarajevo Canton. The first tables have already been handed over to the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Sarajevo and the Fifth Gymnasium Sarajevo.

During the meeting, Kenan Magoda, Minister of Culture and Sport of Sarajevo Canton, and Prof. Dr. Ifet Mahmutović, Dean of the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education at the University of Sarajevo, emphasized that this project enriches the spaces where young people spend their daily lives, providing them with a new opportunity for active leisure, socializing, and developing sports skills.

"Through the 'Teqball in Schools' project, sport does not just enter schools and student dormitories; it comes closer to young people. Sometimes, to get started, that is exactly what is needed: one ball, one table, and an opportunity to try. This distribution represents the initial phase of the project, with the intention of including an even larger number of educational institutions in the future and enabling the development of school and student teqball sections," said Minister Magoda.

Teqball, which combines football technique, ball control, and precision, develops coordination, concentration, and a sense of the game, while pair play further encourages cooperation and team spirit. A special value of the project is that it brings a new challenge to young people who already train, but also provides an opportunity for those who have not found themselves in traditional sports to make their first step.

The tables remain with the institutions for permanent use, as a space for recreation, forming sections, and organizing school and student competitions. A special focus will be on the equal inclusion of girls and boys, as well as on creating opportunities for young people to become active outside the educational process.

Teq tables are multi-functional and allow for other games as well, thereby giving teachers and leaders of sports activities additional possibilities for working with students.

With the "Teqball in Schools" project, Sarajevo further strengthens its connection with the regional teqball community. This is evidenced by the successful Sarajevo stage of the Adriatic Teqball League, which gathered 86 players from 11 countries in August. Now, teqball gets the opportunity to take an even more important step – to move from large sports arenas into the daily lives of young people.
