National and University Library of BiH Director at the annual IFLA General Assembly

Generalna skupština IFLA

The first online IFLA General Assembly was held On 5 November 2020. This meeting was conducted from the National Library of the Netherlands (Koninklijke Bibliotheek) in The Hague.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions is the world’s leading federation of library associations and institutions. It is an independent and non-profit organization dedicated to international cooperation and the development of librarianship. It was founded in 1927 at an international conference in Scotland. Today it has about 1,600 members from 150 countries around the world. The seat of the association is in the Dutch National Library in The Hague.

After welcoming messages and the opening of the Assembly, chaired by the General Assembly President, Barbara Lison, and the quorum establishment, adoption of the agenda and minutes from last year's General Assembly, participants had the opportunity to hear presentations and reports prepared for them by Christine Mackenzie, President of IFLA Gerald Leitner, Secretary General, and Antonia Arachova, Member of the IFLA Finance Executive Board.

The meeting ended with news of future world congresses and thanks to all participants for taking the time to be part of the IFLA General Assembly in specific conditions.

This online IFLA General Assembly was also attended by the National and University Library of BiH Director, Dr. Ismet Ovčina. NUBBiH is an active member of IFLA, and Dr. Ovčina was a member of the IFLA Standing Committee on National Libraries from 2011 to 2019.
