Academy of Performing Arts, University of Sarajevo students awarded at Silver Frame Doc Academy

Academy of Performing Arts at the University of Sarajevo students, Haris Habibija and Mirela Salihović, participated in the first edition of Silver Frame Doc Academy, an educational program held as part of the third international Silver Frame Film Festival in Srebrenica.
During the six-day program, students from the Academy of Performing Arts at the University of Sarajevo worked alongside students from film schools in Malta and Hungary, developing and producing original short documentary films. They were mentored by international film professionals through an intensive process that combined theoretical knowledge with hands-on work across all stages of documentary film-making.
The film Miracle Woman, co-created by Haris Habibija, won the Silver Frame Doc Academy Award for Best Film, while Mirko, co-created by Mirela Salihović together with students from film schools in Malta and Hungary, received the Special Recognition for Contribution to the Process of Confronting the Past.
Participation by Academy of Performing Arts students in programs such as Silver Frame Doc Academy represents an important part of their education and professional development. Meetings with students and filmmakers from other countries, as well as work in an international environment, enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge directly in practice, become familiar with different artistic and production approaches, and develop their own artistic sensibilities.
The University of Sarajevo Academy of Performing Arts continuously encourages its students to participate in domestic and international festivals, workshops, academies, and other programs in the fields of performing and film arts. In this way, students gain valuable experience outside the classroom and Academy during their studies, build professional contacts, and test their knowledge in a real artistic and professional context.
The awards and recognition that students receive through such programs further confirm the quality of their work, as well as the importance of connecting academic education with active participation in contemporary domestic and international artistic currents.
