The 9th Staff Week has started at the University of Sarajevo

To promote the Erasmus program and to network the University of Sarajevo with higher education institutions throughout Europe, the International Relations Office of the University of Sarajevo organized the 9th International Staff Training Week for foreign teaching and non-teaching staff in the period from July 3 to 7, 2023. It hosted 70 participants, representatives of 39 higher education institutions from 13 countries (Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain and Türkiye).

The University of Sarajevo, following the example of many European universities, organizes activities with the aim of better-promoting mobility programs such as Erasmus+ and increasing the international incoming and outgoing mobility of students, teaching/scientific and non-teaching staff with the purpose of professional training and academic advancement, as well as acquiring international experience. The topics of this year's Staff Week are the problems and challenges that Erasmus coordinators face when implementing international mobilities. In this way, in one place, we have created a space and a platform for exchanging opinions and information on the best practices in overcoming obstacles in international incoming and outgoing mobilities.

On Monday, July 3, 2023, the 9th international staff training week was opened with an address by the vice-rector for international cooperation, prof. Ph.D. Enita Nakaš, and the presentation of the work of the International Relations Office and the University of Sarajevo, with a particular focus on internationalization, was held by M.Sc. Adnan Rahimić, senior associate of the UNSA International Relations Office. The first day was also dedicated to presenting the host country and city – Bosnia, Herzegovina and Sarajevo. A tour of the city was organized for the participants with a presentation of different periods (Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslav, modern), prepared by professors from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Sarajevo: prof. Ph.D. Aida Idrizbegović-Zgonić, assistant professor Ph.D. Senka Ibrišimbegović and Assoc. Ph.D. Lejla Kreševljaković.

Through the five-day program of the 9th International Week of Staff Training, the International Relations Office of the University of Sarajevo enables participation in various presentations, seminars, and workshops, as well as networking among partners and exchanging good practices and experiences. In addition, this is a perfect opportunity to promote Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina and present the University of Sarajevo as a serious and potential partner for many international projects.
