The Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, signs an agreement to participate in the IOA program of the journal Biomolecules and Biomedicine

Farmaceutski fakultet u Sarajevu potpisao ugovor o učešću u IOA programu časopisa Biomolecules and Biomedicine

We are pleased to inform the academic community that, on August 26, 2026, the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Pharmacy officially entered into an agreement to participate in the Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP) of the internationally recognized biomedical journal Biomolecules and Biomedicine.

Through this partnership, a 50% discount on the standard Article Processing Charge (APC) is available to all authors whose affiliation is linked to the Faculty of Pharmacy and who meet the specified criteria. The discount applies to all manuscripts that pass peer review and are accepted for publication, and it covers manuscripts submitted after the agreement entered into force.

Supporting our researchers and promoting open access

This step represents exceptionally important support for research at our faculty. By providing more favorable financial conditions for publishing in open-access format, we aim to make it easier for our authors to disseminate their scientific results.

Open access not only makes research freely available to the wider scientific and professional public, but also significantly increases the international visibility, readership, and citation of published papers.

About Biomolecules and Biomedicine

Biomolecules and Biomedicine is an international, peer-reviewed open-access journal dedicated to publishing research in preclinical, translational, and clinical biomedicine.

The journal is indexed in leading global databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), and numerous others. The journal’s quality is also confirmed by bibliometric indicators: according to the latest data on its official website, the journal reports an Impact Factor of 2.8 and a CiteScore of 4.7 for 2025.

Editorial independence and transparent peer review

We wish to make clear that the Faculty’s participation in this program and the use of the APC discount do not in any way affect the journal’s independent editorial policy. All submitted manuscripts undergo the same rigorous procedures of initial assessment, objective peer review, and detailed checks of scientific integrity.

Eligibility for the APC discount:

  • Does not guarantee that a paper will be sent for peer review or accepted;
  • Does not provide accelerated or privileged processing;
  • Does not affect the selection of editors and reviewers, or the outcome of the review;
  • Does not in any way affect the final decision on publication.

Information about eligibility for the discount is strictly separated from the editorial process. This information is not known to reviewers and is not taken into account when editorial decisions are made.
