UNSA Music Academy: The center of music education and concert life in BiH

The realization of the teaching process, theoretical and practical teaching, spatial capacities and modernization of equipment were the topics of the meeting between University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj and Music Academy Dean Prof. Mr. Sc. Ališer Sijarić, held on 2 June 2020 at the Music Academy. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Sanja Burić, Vice-Rector for Arts, Culture and Sports and Doz. Dr. Amila Ramović, Vice Dean for International Cooperation, Doz. Dr. Valida Akšamija, Vice Dean for Teaching, Prof. Mr. Sc. Dragan Opančić, Vice Dean for Concert Activities, and student Ivan Perković, student representative in the Senat.

The Music Academy, University of Sarajevo has been the center of music education and concert life in BiH for 65 years. The most important artists are the lecturers at this institution, where they design, develop and promote the work of students in eight art departments.
During the meeting it was pointed out that the Music Academy, in addition to its primary educational activity, through its regular activity of the Concert Season proved to be by far the most productive and most important organizer of the events of the concert life of Sarajevo and BiH.

During the conversation about the spatial capacities, it was pointed out the difficulties the Music Academy is facing, which are reflected in the organization of the teaching itself, the lack of a functional working space, and the lack of a concert hall. Providing adequate space, i.e. the construction of the Music Academy building in the University of Sarajevo Campus is important for the society of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They also talked about holding classes during the pandemic, and it was pointed out that both teachers and students of the Music Academy did very well in this period of online teaching.
