New module launched at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, UNSA: “MEET - Modern Techniques to Ensure Environmental Sustainability in Eastern Europe”

Na Poljoprivredno-prehrambenom fakultetu UNSA pokrenut novi modul: „MEET – Modern Techniques To Ensure Environmental Sustainability In Eastern Europe“

At the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo, a new module was launched entitled: "MEET - Modern Techniques to Ensure Environmental Sustainability In Eastern Europe.”

The teaching module, which consists of a set of presentations and short training, is based on EU practices concerning sustainable agriculture, environmental protection, disaster risk reduction and climate change. The module uses modern techniques to transfer knowledge and experience, encourages participants to work in an intercultural environment and gives its participants the opportunity to become an active and productive agent of change.

Within this module it is planned:

1.    Developing a new curriculum modeled on EU environmental practices and disaster risk management;
2.    Developing comprehensive but user-friendly software for environmental analysis and water management;
3.    Building the capacity of the research community in Eastern Europe to address environmental issues;
4.    Raising the awareness of the general public and policy makers in Eastern European countries about global environmental challenges and the importance of environmental protection for sustainable development.

The main goal of this module is to build capacity and raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection, through modern education systems at universities in Eastern Europe. The target group is the public and private sector, i.e. all interested parties who study or deal with natural resources through their work.

The MEET work program includes 5 teaching activities:
1.    Module A: Sustainable Agriculture
2.    Module B: Climate change and its impact on human and natural systems
3.    Module C: Climate-smart agricultural technologies and practices in land and water management
4.    Module D: Sustainable land and water management
5.    Module E: Drought in a changing environment

Teaching activities will take the form of a standard university curriculum and be offered to undergraduate, master's or doctoral students to the general public, including NGOs and the public administration sector, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in neighboring countries.

In addition to teachers from the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo, teachers from the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture in Nis also participate as lecturers.
