As part of their academic activities in the course Introduction to Mediology, first-year master's students from the Department of Journalism/Communication at the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Political Sciences had the distinguished opportunity to visit the Film Archive of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The visit was led by the esteemed course instructor, Assistant Professor Dr. Enita Čustović, while Mirza Pašić, a professional associate and director, guided the students through the premises of the Archive. This excursion offered the students a unique chance to delve into the rich cinematic heritage and cultural legacy that the Archive safeguards in the heart of Sarajevo.

Special emphasis was placed on exploring the film archive, touring the projection halls, and viewing invaluable film materials, including:

a documentary film detailing the establishment and survival of the Archive titled “And There Was Light,” the first sound short film in Bosnia and Herzegovina, “Love in Sarajevo,” produced in 1936, a selection of cinematic works representing pivotal periods of film history.

Through an interactive dialogue with the experts at the Archive, the students garnered deeper insights into the processes of preserving film material and its significance for future generations. This visit further enhanced the students’ interest in the seventh art and its crucial role in safeguarding cultural heritage.

The Faculty of Political Sciences persistently endeavors to provide its students with numerous field visits and practical experiences. Such activities not only enrich academic knowledge but also bridge the gap to the professional realms of media and communication.

The Faculty extends its heartfelt gratitude to the representatives of the Film Archive of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly Devleta Filipović, acting director, and Mirza Pašić, for their longstanding and fruitful collaboration.
