The Academy of Fine Arts became a COBISS.BH member

The virtual library of Bosnia and Herzegovina has become richer for another important member- the Library of the Academy of Fine Arts, a University of Sarajevo member, the basic BH higher education institution in this field, founded in 1972. The ceremonial act of joining this library in COBISS.BH (www.cobiss.ba) was held in the premises of the Academy, and the signatories were Prof. Dr. Dubravka Pozderac - Lejlić, dean of the Academy, Dr. Ismet Ovčina, director of the National and University Library of BiH.

Numerous scientists, professors, and cultural workers participated in the founding of the Academy, so that the institution quickly became indispensable in the education of personnel in the field of art. The Law on the Establishment of the Academy of Fine Arts, passed in 1972, also determined its basic tasks, primarily the education of fine artists and the organization of classes for the education of art teachers for primary and secondary schools. By the way, the beginning of the work of the ALU library itself is related to 1981 - the relocation of this higher education institution to the renovated building of the former evangelical church.

Today, the Academy of Fine Arts Sarajevo has six departments (teaching, sculpture, painting, graphics, graphic design and product design) and the volume of literature offered in the library is adapted to the teaching needs of this institution. Currently, the library has about 9,100 library units, and the subject coverage of the library with library units is applied and fine arts with very few fiction titles (titles that may be of interest to students for further work).
The most represented are monographic editions of eminent domestic and foreign artists in the field of fine and applied arts. Also, the library has a large number of catalogs from famous exhibitions and other similar materials.

The signing of the Agreement on full membership of the ALU library in the library information system COBISS.BH was also attended by the head of the Virtual Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nevenka Hajdarović and Memnuna Ništović, the Academy librarian.
