Improving the Capacity Building for Genetic Testing, Training and Counseling in the Hereditary Mental Disorders Field

The UNSA Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at has just successfully finished implementation of a project co-financed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH with the aim of strengthening the capacities for international scientific - technological cooperation.
As a project consortium member, the Institute actively participated in the project proposal preparation for ENGAGE (CA17130), which was approved for financing by COST in the total amount of about 150 000 €.
UNSA-Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology collaborators actively participated in the preparation of the project proposal and COST project application within the Ministry funded project. In parallel, the Human Genetics Laboratory of the mentioned institute has taken measures to increase research capacities and scientific visibility through the realization of planned activities: (1) population-genetic analysis of the existing biological sample in the genotyping process, (2) strengthening of interdisciplinary connections between geneticists and clinicians, and (3) the local visibility of the project and the future development plan of this area.
