Eugene Schulman donated 6000 books to the National and University Library of BiH

The National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 20 September 2019 officially celebrated the opening of a new reading room, which housed a donation from a private book collector, with over 6000 titles. The private collection was donated to NUBBiH by Eugene Schulman, a US and Swiss citizen living in Geneva, otherwise passionate book collector.
On this occasion, Dr. Ismet Ovčina said: “The opening of this reading room is one of a series of events marking the 74th anniversary. This gesture by Mr. Schulman has resulted in the idea of placing the entire collection in one special reading room, which will serve to the Library users for research and team work with its open access and beautiful ambiance.”
Due to health concerns, Mr. Schulman was not able to attend the event, but on his behalf his longtime friends, Matthew Stevenson, Daniel Warner and Michael Horner, who made great efforts to make this valuable donation to the National and the University Library of BiH made an address. As a token of gratitude for donation, the National and University Library of BiH sent Mr. Schulman a Latter of gratitude note, an appropriate plaque and handed the Library's honorary membership cards to his friends.
In addition to Dr. Ovčina, Mr. Schulman’s aforementioned friends, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, Mrs. Borka Šunjić, Advisor to the Minister Prof. Dr. Elvira Dilberović also addressed attendees, emphasizing the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science in the implementation of numerous projects of the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as one of the recognized institutions of culture, education and science in BiH. In her address, Swiss Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina representative Hanna Bodenmann praised this type of private donations that strengthen B-H's cultural cooperation with countries in the region and Europe, and emphasized the importance of projects implemented by the Swiss Embassy in BiH in the field of cultural cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
