UNSA and the Government of KS - Agreement on the development of institutional and research infrastructure and equipment of the University of Sarajevo was signed
The Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Mr. Nihad Uk, and the UNSA Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj signed today the Agreement on the development of the institutional and research infrastructure and equipment of the University of Sarajevo, and for this purpose the Government of Sarajevo Canton will allocate eight to ten million BAM in the next five years.
One of the most important things for the University of Sarajevo and its members, as pointed out by Rector Škrijelj, is the strengthening of the financial, spatial and human resources of the University, and the continuation of the improvement of scientific, teaching and artistic capacities. “Investments in institutional and research infrastructure will enable our University to have an increased presence and visibility in the intellectual and scientific environment of our region and beyond,” stated Rector Škrijelj and added that the main goal of this agreement is to encourage the development of higher education and science in accordance with the goals defined in strategic documents of Sarajevo Canton. “The agreement is also a testimony of our joint commitment to creating an environment that nurtures learning, research and innovation. The agreement also symbolizes a shared vision of a more successful future, where education and research are the foundations of progress, Rector Škrijelj concluded, and thanked the Sarajevo Canton Government for their dedication to the work and development of the University of Sarajevo: “Together we will shape an environment where excellence is the measure of success, and knowledge knows no borders”.
The Government of the Sarajevo Canton, as emphasized by Prime Minister Uk, is committed to investing in the institutional and research development of the University of Sarajevo, and this is a unique example of cooperation between the Government and the University.
“It is a unique example in the region that the rights and obligations of partners are defined in this way. This means that we will direct at least one percent of the University's budget every year to increase the capacities related to the strengthening of the University, spatially, personnel and financially, all with the aim of increasing the capacities of the scientific and research community,” said Prime Minister Uk. It will be a serious platform, he added, not only for our University, but for all other universities that are interested in cooperation, from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and why not from Europe and the world.
Minister for Science, Higher Education and Youth KS Prof. Dr. Adna Mesihović believes that the signed Agreement is important from the aspect of strengthening scientific and educational excellence, and this is also the strategy of the KS Government, and expressed the hope that other cantons will follow such an example.
