Prof. dr. Zoran Galić

At the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics on the occasion of marking the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (INGEB) 30th  anniversary, on 26 February 2018, former INGEB associate, Prof. Dr. Zoran Galić, from the prestigious US UCLA University of Los Angeles held a lecture.
In his lecture, Professor Zoran Galić emphasized that the area of stem cells was one of the most dynamic research disciplines in modern medicine, pointing to a great number of potential therapies based on these cells. Speaking about his stem cell experiences and their adaptation for use in the treatment of immunological disorders and diseases like AIDS, Professor Galić said: “Stem cells are an extremely important field of research in the world and it is assumed that in the future it will play the role of regenerative medicine. Unfortunately, they have not yet reached that level so they can be used to treat various diseases, but in the future, stem cells are likely to be used to develop therapies for various diseases.”
Professor Galić pointed out that 30th  anniversary of the Institute represents an outstanding achievement not only in our country but also in the world, especially taking into account the full range of its technical and scientific achievements, as well as the personnel who have been educated there.
