The 72nd anniversary of the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo

Occasional speech of the staff of the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo:

Dear colleagues, today on 23 December 2020, we mark the seventy-second anniversary of the founding of our Faculty.

The organization of joint gatherings on the occasion of the Faculty Day, this year, unfortunately, is not possible in the current conditions of the pandemic, so let us wish you happy upcoming holidays on this, the seventy-second anniversary of the Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo!

The Faculty of Forestry of the University of Sarajevo was founded in 1948 and is among the oldest higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as one of the founders of the University of Sarajevo. Throughout its history, the Faculty has gone through various stages of its development. Some of them were particularly dramatic.

The faculty has always strived to respond to the tasks set before it by the community and the forestry profession, throughout its existence. Following modern trends in the development of science and scientific thought in the field of forestry, we tried to design appropriate study programs through which we would best transfer modern trends in management and acquired knowledge about forests and forest land, the most important natural resource of our country.

Through various forms of cooperation with the forestry industry, we have tried and are trying to update the acquired knowledge of forestry experts and help them solve the problems they encounter in practice on a daily basis. Since 1996, we have also been educating staff in the field of Horticulture.

Today, the Faculty of Forestry is a renewed and rejuvenated university member which, with modernly equipped classrooms, laboratories, teaching aids and collections through student teaching, strives to responsibly realize its social role.
