A workshop on Korea was held for students and teachers in Bosnia and Herzegovina
In anticipation of the Days of Arts, the University of Sarajevo organized a “Workshop on Korea for Students and Teachers in Bosnia and Herzegovina” on 25 May 2022, in the ceremonial hall of the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo.
The reason for this event is a publication donated by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Croatia to the University of Sarajevo. The publication “Korea - Handbook of History and Geography in Primary and Secondary Schools” consists of five chapters presenting Korea, in the areas of geography and population, history, economy, culture and relations between South and North Korea. All workshop participants received this manual as a gift.
Vice-rector for art, artistic research, culture and sports of the University of Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Tamara Karača Beljak that today we live in a world marked by various changes caused by the process of globalization. “In that context, the University of Sarajevo considers all forms of international cooperation as an investment for the future. In this way, the conditions are created for successful participation in bilateral and multilateral research and art programs, exchange programs for students, young scientists, young artists and university teachers “, said Vice Rector Karača Beljak , adding:” Consequently, our universities through the Office for International cooperation and the Office for Arts, Art Research, Culture and Sports encourages all forms of international cooperation, and especially seeks to create conditions for improving international cooperation in those areas where such cooperation has not existed so far, especially in the field of arts and culture.
Mr. JEONG Dong-ik, Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, thanked the University of Sarajevo for organizing today's event, emphasizing the importance of presenting the most important information about the Republic of Korea and its development to students at the University of Sarajevo.
Two lectures were held as part of the workshop on Korea. Dr. spoke about the success factors of economic growth in the Republic of Korea. Sunkung Choi (Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, The Netherlands), while on the topic “Korean language and script in the cultural-historical context” spoke Dr. Ivana Grbić from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb.
The program of the workshop was completed by a musical performance by Professor Yeonju Jeong from the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo.
Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea also met with the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš and Vice-Rector for Art, Artistic Research, Culture and Sports, Prof. Dr. Tamara Karača Beljak. During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the University of Sarajevo and the University of the Republic of Korea, especially in the field of culture, arts and sports, as well as cooperation within scientific research / artistic research work.
As part of this event at the Academy of Performing Arts at 19:00, a screening of the film Poetry by director Lee Chang-dong is planned.
