On 3 February 2020, Stari Grad Municipality Mayor, Mr. Sc. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić hosted the best students from this municipality, recipients of awards the University of Sarajevo Gold and Silver Badge in the academic year 2019/20. Seven students from the Faculties of Philosophy, Pedagogy, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics are rewarded for their hard work, success, and encouraged by the fact that some of them already have gained their first work experience. They do not think about leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they confirmed during today's reception. In addition to the acknowledgments, Mayor Hadžibajrić also presented students with cash awards, and, as he pointed out, this is only a small sign that their hard work and work is appreciated and that supporting young people is not just a phrase.

“Today we brought together seven of the best students from Stari Grad. One female student was awarded the UNSA Gold Badge and the others were Silver Badges. I asked them if they wanted to leave BiH and no one said they wanted to, which really makes me happy. From talking to them, I learned that some of them are already employed and this is proof that there is room for youth employment and their stay in this country. We need more positive stories, like these,” said Hadžibajrić. He told the students that Municipality doors are always open for any assistance and support they would need.

Support for young people is also reflected in the scholarships of students, and it was announced that this year the Stari Grad Municipality will allocate significant funds and scholarships for more than 300 people for this purpose. In addition, there is a competition procedure under which students who are gifted athletes will be awarded scholarships for the first time this year.

Nudžejma Durmišević was awarded the University of Sarajevo Gold Badge. “I completed the first and second cycle at the Faculty of Philosophy, majoring in English Language and Literature. This support is one of the elements throughout my educational process. I owe the greatest gratitude for this success to my parents and all other spiritual teachers, they have taught me that everything I do, I do completely with dedication. It is for this reason that this significant recognition was not difficult to achieve, and it is another step forward” said Nudžejma.

Abdurahim Kalajdžić is a Silver Badge recipient and has completed the first and second cycle at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Department of Genetics. “I am currently an employee of the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Sarajevo. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Major Hadžibajrić, who has dedicated his time and allocated financial resources today to reward us for our success. I think that students and young people should constantly seek motivation, not wait for someone else to give it to them. The advice for current and future students is to seek it out on their own and find motivation to do what they love and what fulfills them” said Abdurahim.

Among the successful students at today's reception was Amila Jakubović, who completed the first and second cycle at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, majoring in Automation and Electronics. "In the second cycle of studies, I had an average of 10.00, but in total with the first cycle I received a University of Sarajevo Silver Badge. It is very important that the representatives of the authorities, in our case, the Stari Grad Municipality, led by Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, affirm positive things in society. This is a great indicator for the youth of this country that one can certainly succeed here if one truly desires it. I myself have witnessed the departure of a large number of my colleagues, mainly in Central European countries. I had a specific offer from Vienna to work there, but I didn't want to, because I also think that a better society can be built here” said Amila.

The awards were given to:
Nudžejma Durmišević (Faculty of Philosophy) – “Golden Badge” recipient, Ermina Ribić (Faculty of Philosophy), Timur Vilić (Faculty of Philosophy), Nejra Hadžić (Faculty of Pedagogy), Lamija Krndžija (Faculty of Economics), Amila Jakubović (Faculty of Electrical Engineering) and Abdurahim Kalajdžić (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics) - “Silver Badge” recipients.

Reception of students was organized through the municipal Education, Culture and Sports Services to reward student success and excellence during their studies and motivate them to achieve even better results in the future.
