Gala concert marking the 70th University of Sarajevo’s anniversary

The gala concert marking the 70th University of Sarajevo’s anniversary took place at the National Theater of Sarajevo on 19 December 2019.
“Tonight's Concert Music Academy pays tribute to our university in the desire to jointly mark an extraordinarily important jubilee - the 70th anniversary of the University of Sarajevo,” said Music Academy Dean, Prof. Dr. Senad Kazić and stated that the program was carefully selected. “We have selected two works by two composers from two different epochs, from different cultural backgrounds, but undoubtedly works of high artistic values that spread the message of humanism as the ultimate civilization heritage” said Dean Kazić and proudly emphasized that the majority of performers at the gala concert are Sarajevo Music Academy students, who are members of the resident choirs and orchestras of the Music Academy. 
He also recalled that the Music Academy was established by the National Assembly of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Decree on 20 1955. Later that date was taken as the date of establishing the Music Academy.
“However, for technical reasons, the first class held at the Music Academy was on 19 December 1955, precisely to this date. We are actually marking that day as our students' and alumni day, and somehow at the same time we are participating in the University's jubilee, and we are also marking the academy's 65th anniversary, which is also a valuable anniversary” said Dean Kazić.

University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj expressed his honor and satisfaction for being at the Sarajevo Academy of Music gala concert, organized to mark the University of Sarajevo’s 70th anniversary, as well as several other important anniversaries for the University of Sarajevo and the wider community. He recalled that on the 19 December 1955 the Music Academy, University of Sarajevo opened its doors to students and started working.
Rector Škrijelj presented to Dean Kazić the University of Sarajevo Acknowledgment for the Music Academy’s contribution in the cultural and artistic activities of the University.
