Fourth Music Camp for Young Virtuosos Concludes with a Concert in Sarajevo

The fourth Music Camp for Young Virtuosos, held from 16 to 24 September 2026, brought together talented students from primary and secondary music schools in Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Žepče, and Goražde who had successfully auditioned for the program. Under the expert guidance of distinguished professors and music educators, led by violin professor YeonJu Jeong and conductor Fuad Šetić, the young virtuosos refined their performance skills and gained orchestral experience through nine days of intensive rehearsals in Sarajevo and joint concert performances.
Following successful performances in Goražde and Foča, the Music Camp for Young Virtuosos’ soloists and string orchestra gave their final concert last night at Sarajevo’s Sacred Heart Cathedral, under the baton of Fuad Šetić.
The program opened with A. Vivaldi’s Concerto for Four Violins in B minor, RV 580, performed by Antonio Šarić, Lamija Šišić, Farah Sijarić, and Iman Beganović, accompanied by the orchestra. Soloist Ella Hadrović then performed P. de Sarasate’s “Zigeunerweisen” for violin and orchestra, Op. 20.
The Music Camp for Young Virtuosos’ string orchestra also performed two movements from A. Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings in E major, Op. 22 (B. 52), Waltz No. 2 from D. Shostakovich’s Suite No. 1, “Jig” from G. Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite, Op. 29, No. 2, and J. Lee’s Arirang Rhapsody.
The fourth Music Camp for Young Virtuosos was held under the auspices of UNFPA in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a long-standing partner of the project. The concerts in Goražde and Foča also formed part of the Western Balkans Peace Fellows program under the theme “River of Peace.” The program is part of the Moving Us Closer initiative, supported by the Government of Italy, and the Youth for Inclusion, Equality and Trust program, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund.
The Music Camp for Young Virtuosos is one of the first initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina established as a platform for young violinists attending primary and secondary music schools. It aims to provide access to additional educational and artistic resources, opportunities to learn and make music together, support for developing their potential, and opportunities to build personal and professional connections.
The project is led and implemented by the Artes Association for Arts Research in cooperation with the Center for Music Education at the University of Sarajevo Academy of Music and the University of Sarajevo’s Department for Arts, Artistic Research, Culture and Sports.
Sponsors of the 4th Music Camp for Young Virtuosos include the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Sarajevo, the Embassy of Italy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Zagreb, MIBO Komunikacije, and Prof. Hyoung-Kyu Kim and Dr. Hyeong-Tae Kim from South Korea.
