Meeting of Representatives of the Partner Universities of the EUPeace Alliance

In the period from 27 to 29 March 2026, our university hosted a meeting of representatives of partner universities within the European University Initiative titled EUPeace (European University for Peace, Justice, and Inclusive Societies).
The EUPeace alliance is particularly focused on enhancing the impact of internationalisation under the framework of fostering a peaceful, just, and inclusive European society at different levels. In this way, our university continues its long-standing tradition of inter-university cooperation aimed at developing a culture of dialogue and promoting peace.
The EUPeace alliance consists of nine European universities whose representatives visited our university, namely: University of Marburg (Germany), Comillas Pontifical University (Spain), Çukurova University (Türkiye), Justus Liebig University Giessen (Germany), University of Calabria (Italy), University of Limoges (France), University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and University of West Bohemia (Czech Republic).
The meeting was hosted by the International Relations Office, which, under the leadership of the Vice-Rector for International Relations, supports the implementation of regular international activities, as well as the preparation and implementation of international strategies. These strategies enable our university to strengthen cooperation with partner universities, as well as with other educational, research, and institutional networks across Europe and beyond. Meetings were held in Sarajevo and Mostar.
The activities of the European University Initiative are implemented over a four-year period. The project is currently in its third year, with the possibility of an additional extension.
European University Initiatives, or alliances, are complex projects aimed at creating long-term, sustainable, integrated, and competitive European university networks. Through the Erasmus+ programme, these alliances support the development of joint study programmes, enhance student and staff mobility, and strengthen research cooperation among member institutions. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinarity, the digitalisation of teaching processes, and the integration of inclusiveness and social responsibility principles in higher education.
European University alliances also contribute to strengthening European identity by connecting different educational systems and cultures, enabling students to gain international experience without administrative barriers. In this context, the EUPeace alliance promotes the values of peace, justice, and equality through joint projects, research, and academic exchanges, directly contributing to the development of more resilient and cohesive societies.
The participation of our university in such an initiative represents a significant step towards the modernisation of educational and research capacities, while opening new opportunities for students, academic staff, and researchers. Through active participation in the EUPeace network, our university not only strengthens its international visibility but also contributes to shaping the future of the European Higher Education Area.
