University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of the United States of America Representatives on Campus Development and International Academic Cooperation

Representatives of the University of Sarajevo and the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina met at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate on Thursday, 15 January at a meeting dedicated to the development of the University of Sarajevo Campus and the promotion of international academic cooperation.
On behalf of the University of Sarajevo, the meeting was attended by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Kemal Durić, and the Director of the Directorate for Construction and Equipping of the University of Sarajevo Campus, M. Sc. Lejla Hajro. The delegation of the Embassy of the United States of America consisted of Sean O’Hara, Director of the Office of Public Diplomacy, Catherine Fischer, Attaché for Culture and Education, and Elizabeta Delić, EOL Specialist in the Department of Public Diplomacy.
During the meeting, the development of the University of Sarajevo Campus was presented, as well as its strategic and long-term importance. It was emphasized that the construction of the Campus represents a generational project, aimed at the spatial integration of various educational and scientific research units of the University of Sarajevo into a single, modern university complex. It was emphasized that this is a project of exceptional importance not only for the University, but also for the city of Sarajevo as a whole, with expected long-term positive effects on the quality of life of students and the wider community.
It was emphasized that the Campus of the University of Sarajevo represents one of the most significant infrastructure projects not only for the University, but also for the city of Sarajevo as a whole, and that its implementation will improve the quality of life of students, the academic community and the wider public.
Special attention was paid to the project of building the Library of the University of Sarajevo, as the first facility within the Campus. The current phase of the project's implementation was discussed, as well as its symbolic significance, given that the University Library represents the official beginning of the construction of the Campus. It was emphasized that this facility, with its size, purpose and investment value, plays a key role in the overall development of the university infrastructure.
The meeting continued with a discussion on the possibilities of improving international cooperation, with a special focus on academic exchange of teaching staff and students. Educational, research and professional development programs supported by the United States Government were presented, which provide opportunities for strengthening institutional cooperation and international networking in the field of higher education.
The meeting confirmed mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation, especially in the field of international academic mobility and knowledge exchange.
