Meeting between the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the University of Sarajevo Rector

The University of Sarajevo today hosted H.E. Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, together with a delegation consisting of Mr. Behrouz Nikpour, Deputy Ambassador and Counselor for Economic Affairs, and Mr. Mohammad Hossein Ansari, Attaché for Cultural Affairs. On behalf of the University of Sarajevo, the guests were met by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zildžić, Head of the Department of Oriental Philology at the UNSA Faculty of Philosophy and Prof. Dr. Munir Drkić, Professor of Persian Language also at the Faculty of Philosophy.

During the meeting, Rector Zaimović emphasized the importance of the Persian language and culture in the global cultural heritage, highlighting their influence on European and world civilization. The University of Sarajevo is dedicated to promoting scientific and research cooperation, and in this context, Rector Zaimović emphasized the importance of strengthening academic ties with friendly countries such as Iran.

Ambassador Torkaman expressed his gratitude for the cooperation with the Department of Persian Language and praised the work of the professors in this field, and pointed out the importance of the Persian language and Persian culture for understanding Islamic and cultural heritage.

The discussion included concrete proposals for further joint projects, including translating classical Persian works, writing textbooks, working on a dictionary of professional terms, and cooperation with the Cultural Center and the Ibn Sina Institute. Both sides expressed their desire to expand cooperation in areas such as biotechnology, natural sciences, nanotechnology, and technology in general, recognizing the potential of the University of Sarajevo as a bridge between East and West.
