University of Sarajevo and French Development Agency Meet to Discuss Campus Modernisation

A delegation of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) visited Sarajevo to mark the recent signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which provides the framework for the establishment and activities of the AFD Group in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including AFD, Expertise France and Proparco.
The visit was also an opportunity to meet with representatives of the University of Sarajevo and discuss the current status of preparations for the modernization project of the University of Sarajevo Campus. The project is being jointly contemplated by AFD and the European Investment Bank (EIB) and is of strategic importance for the further development of the University of Sarajevo, as well as for improving conditions for teaching, research and student life.
A constructive and fruitful exchange was held between the AFD team, represented by Mathieu Vasseur, AFD Regional Director for Enlargement and the European Neighborhood; Arnaud Dauphin, Director of the AFD Regional Office for the Western Balkans; and Jelena Penezić, Regional Project Officer, and the University of Sarajevo representatives: Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Rector of the University of Sarajevo, and Lejla Hajro, Head of the Directorate for University Campus Development.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the next steps in the preparation of the project, as well as opportunities for continued cooperation.
AFD confirmed its commitment to continuing its support for the preparation of this important project, which is of strategic significance both for the University of Sarajevo and for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
