Conference Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizesand Consequences Organizing and Scientific Committee Session Held

The Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizes and Consequences Organizing and Scientific Committee Session was held on 5 January 2020. The following was adopted at the session: 

CONCLUSIONS

  1. The Report on the International Conference The Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizes and Consequences is accepted (19/ 10/ 2020)
  2. In July 2021 in the Memorial Center Srebrenica - Potocari, a round table, organized in cooperation between the Universities of Sarajevo and Tuzla will be held, within which the International Scientific Conference Proceedings “Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizes and Consequences” will be presented and preparations for the next international scientific conference, planned to be held in 2022 started.
  3. The Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizes and Consequences Organizing and Scientific Committee would like to thank for the successful cooperation between Universities of Sarajevo and Tuzla, which gave dignity to the conference. Thanks are due to the Tuzla Canton Government, and especially the Sarajevo Canton Government, which provided financial support to the organization of the International Scientific Conference.
  4. A meeting of Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector with Prof. Dr. Denis Zvizdić, First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and a meeting with Valentin Inzko, High Representative for BiH, will be organized to present the International Scientific Conference Conclusions and engagement of state institutions requested.
  5. The public will be informed about the held session of the Organizing and Scientific Committee.

Organized by four educational and scientific institutions: University of Sarajevo, Institute for Research of Crimes against Humanity and International Law, University of Sarajevo, Institute of History, University of Sarajevo and the University of Tuzla, the International Scientific Conference Genocide Against Bosniaks, Srebrenica 1995-2020: Causes, Sizes and Consequences was held in Sarajevo on 19 October 2020. 
The conference was thematically focused on three aspects: the causes of the crimes of genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, the scale of the committed genocide and the consequences of that genocide. A total of 72 eminent scientists and researchers from twelve countries took part in the conference. The work of the Conference took place in four panels where the participants presented the results of their research on the genocide of Bosniaks in Srebrenica, but also on other related topics.
The Organizing Committee members stated that this conference, which was attended by over seventy scientists and researchers from twelve countries, was, among other things, an opportunity to exchange experiences on genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina, its causes, scale and consequences. the responsibility of scientists and the entire intellectual public. “Thinking about Srebrenica, we think about Bosnia and Herzegovina, its renewal and future. The issue of genocide in Srebrenica is a matter of conscience of all mankind“, stated Conference Organizing Committee members.
