Lecture series by Dr. Mladen Milićević in the program “Music in Context”

The Music Academy, University of Sarajevo announces a teaching module in cooperation with Dr. Mladen Milićević, a prominent composer and professor from Sarajevo based in Los Angeles. The entire semester program will be dedicated to the presentation of artistic and theoretical research projects by Dr. Milićević, with a focus on his composition, participation in the activities of the avant-garde music scene of the 80s and 90s, and special areas to which he is dedicated in his artistic and research experience.

The program begins on Thursday, 26 November 2020, at 19:00, with a lecture by Dr. Milićević in his work within the Yugoslav composition scene, during his engagement at the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo. During the next lectures, Dr. Milićević will introduce the participants to his compositional practice after leaving for the United States, his experiences within the scene of American experimental music, and then to his research in the field of semiotics, memetics and psychology of music. The next lectures will be held on 3, 10, 17, 24 December 2020, and 7 and 14 January 2021.
 
The program is led and moderated by musicologist Dr. Amila Ramović, assistant professor at the Academy of Music and the Academy of Performing Arts, within the teaching area of Music in Context.

The Music Academy, University of Sarajevo opens this program to the public through the Zoom platform, subject to prior registration.
Lectures will be available to registered students of MAS UNSA, and the interested audience can get the link after registration via email amila.ramovic@mas.unsa.ba  with the note "Request for link - Music in context".
During the semester prof. Milićević remains available for student consultations, through online conference calls and email correspondence.
 
This program is implemented within the project "Diaspora for Development" - D4D, which is a project of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH (MHRR) and the Government of Switzerland, in partnership with UNDP BiH and IOM BiH.
