Implementation of UN General Assembly Resolution A / C.2 / 72 / L.32

On 20 December 2017, on the proposal of the Republic of Slovenia, the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York adopted the Resolution on the World Bee Day, which is celebrated on May 20.
Rare are the resolutions that inspired such wide consensus and support as the resolution on the World Bee Day. The resolution was supported by 115 countries, including the United States, Canada, China, India, Brazil, Argentina, Australia and all EU Member States, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is indeed a broad front of support from countries that are not so often on the same page as regards global issues, even in terms of environmental protection or agriculture, and the reduction of hunger. Bees and other pollinators are invaluable when it comes to ensuring global food safety. Every third spoon of food depends on pollination.
The resolution recognizes Slovenia's commitment to a healthy, green and balanced development, but a major and common step in the fight against hunger and poverty in the world, and for the preservation of the natural environment.
This year, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovenian Society Ivan Cankar, in cooperation with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Sarajevo, invite you to attend the public tribune to mark the importance of bees for humanity, education about nature and bee relationships, honey in the daily life of people and, in particular, the challenges of modern use of bee and bee products for human health and nutrition.

The panel will be held on 20 May 2019 at the amphitheater of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at 3 pm.
