The Agreement on Cooperation between the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Library of Russia Signed

National and University Library of BiH Director at the Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg

National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina Director, Dr. Ismet Ovčina participated at the Seventh International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg. Petersburg from 15 to 17 November 2018.

The 7th International Cultural Forum in St. Petersburg was a unique event for the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg, in order to promote cultural ties and realize common interests in the area of library and information science. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ismet Ovčina and Dr. Alexander Pavlovich Vershinin, National Library of Russia Director General.

During the Forum, the National Library of Russia organized a symposium “Information, Society, Development: International Library Links.”  As a participant, Dr. Ovčina held a lecture on the topic “Libraries as a mediator between users and e-resources of knowledge: NULB & H international ties in digital era.” Also, guests visited the Library of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, where the original Charter of Kulin Ban is kept, the oldest surviving Bosnian state document and one of the most important documents of the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Forum is held by the Government of St. Petersburg with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Its goal is to preserve and develop Russian culture, support cultural initiatives at regional, federal and international level, and develop international cultural cooperation.
