The Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Sarajevo marked its 49th anniversary by organizing the Annual Exhibition of Student Works of the Academy of Fine Arts. Students of all study years of the undergraduate cycle of studies with six departments - Teacher, Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Graphic Design and Product Design, exhibited in the premises of the Gallery ALU, works created in the past academic 2020/21 year.

The annual exhibition of ALU student works offered a cross-section of different art forms, methods and strategies of action that students have dealt with in the past academic year, despite the pandemic situation and changed working conditions.

As part of the exhibition, the traditional award ceremony for the best student work “Alija Kučukalić” was organized. The award was established in 1997 and named in memory of a prominent Bosnian artist, cultural worker and professor at the Department of Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts, Alija Kučukalić (1937-1992).

Commission for awarding the prize “Alija Kučukalić” consisting of Doz. Dr. Ema Mazrak (President of the Commission), Prof. Dr. Dubravka Pozderac-Lejlić and Prof. Dr. Fehim Hadžimuhamedović, for the winner of the award, considered the students and their works proposed by the home departments.

  1. This year's nominees for the award:

  3. Department of Sculpture: Ilda Sadiković;
  4. Department of Painting: Emma Gindorf;
  5. Product Design Department: Medina Viteškić;
  6. Department of Graphic Design: Danijela Obajdin.

The commission states in the explanation: “In the study period 2020/21. Emma Gindorf (Department of Painting) and Tarik Golubić (Department of Graphics) are the winners of the "Alija Kučukalić" award. From the selected exhibition of students from all departments of the Academy of Fine Arts, the works of E. Gindorf and T. Golubić stand out for their interpretive quality. Graphic sheets made in the technique of intaglio printing, ie large canvases created in the Ebru technique, were created as a product of longer research processes which were especially difficult in the departments of selected students due to the pandemic. However, the students showed maturity in approach and work continuity, which is clearly seen in their graphic / painting expression. Apart from the nominees, students Nejra Gorančić (Department of Product Design), Sergej Mačar (Department of Graphic Design) and Nađa Husejinović (Department of Graphics) are praised for their work.
