University of Sarajevo Vice-Rectors Elected for the 2020-2024 Term

At the second elctive University of Sarajevo Senate session of 30 September 2020, University of Sarajevo Vice-Rectors for the term 2020-2024 were elected. The Senate was informed about the appointments of heads/directors of the University of Sarajevo sub-organizational units.

In accordance with the Law on Higher Education of KS, University of Sarajevo Statute and the Rulebook on the Election of University of Sarajevo Vice-Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Rector, submitted his proposal for the appointment of new Vice-Rectors to the University of Sarajevo Senate at the election session, and the Decision on the election of new Vice-Rectors was made by the Senate.

At the held Senate session, the University of Sarajevo Vice-Rectors for 2020-2024 term were elected:

  • Vice Rector for Finance: Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović, Associate Professor, UNSA Faculty of Economics, (Social Sciences Group),
  • Vice Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs: Prof. Dr. Dženana Husremović, Associate Professor, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo (Humanities)
  • Vice-Rector for Scientific Research: Prof. Dr. Mirza Dautbašić, Full Professor, Faculty of Forestry, University of Sarajevo (Natural, Mathematical and Biotechnical Sciences Group)
  • Vice Rector for Quality: Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković, Associate Professor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo (Technical Sciences Group)
  • Vice Rector for International Cooperation: Prof. Dr. Enita Nakaš, Associate Professor, Faculty of Dental Medicine with Clinics, University of Sarajevo (Medical Sciences Group)
  • Vice Rector for Arts, Culture and Sports: Prof. Dr. Tamara Karača Beljak, Full Professor, Music Academy, University of Sarajevo (Arts Group)


Second term in office of Prof. Dr. Rifat Škirjelj starts on 1 October 2020 and lasts for four years, i.e. until 30 September 2024. The Vice-Rectors’ mandates follow the Rector’s.

Prof. dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector in the term 2020-2024 on the election of the Vice-Rector of the University of Sarajevo states:

This is a team that will lead the University of Sarajevo and its sub-organizational units for the next four years through improved development and improvement of all functions of this higher education institution. This team consists of respected, prominent professors, professors, scientific and professional workers from University of Sarajevo Faculties and Academies. Their competencies and reuslts achieved so far at their home Faculties and Academy are a guarantee that University of Sarajevo will continue with its aspirations to improve the status of the University of Sarajevo with their appointment. The three key words in the next term are integration, internationalization and informatization, and the primary task is to continue working on the initiated reform processes.

Based on the UNSA Rector’s decisions with which the Senate was previously acquainted, the duties of sub-organizational units directors in the next term continue are to be performed by:

  • Prof. Dr. Elmedin Selmanović, associate professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, remains the University Tele-Informatics Center director,
  • Mr. Sc. Nadina Grebović-Lendo, head of the Library at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Philosophy, remains the University of Sarajevo Library director.

At the elective session, the Senate was informed about the appointments of University of Sarajevo centers Heads/Directors:

  • Prof. Dr. Nedžad Korajlić, Full Professor at the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies, University of Sarajevo is appointed director of the Center for Human Rights, University of Sarajevo.
  • Prof. Dr. Nihad Fejzić, Full Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sarajevo is appointed director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • Prof.Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžija, associate professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Sarajevo is appointed director of the Center for Research and Development of the University of Sarajevo.
