A concert of the Saxophone Dept. UNSA Academy of Music was held
As part of the fourteenth edition of the "May Music Festival" festival, the Saxophone Department of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo was presented: Zoja Vuković, Ivona Šiško, Mirza Sijerčić and Rijad Šarić, students in the class of Prof. Lev Pupis.
The program began with the performance of selected movements from two suites that are part of the famous cycle of six suites for cello by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) in a saxophone arrangement. Zoja Vuković, a third-year student, performed three movements from Suite no. 4 BWV 1010, including Prelude, and two dance parts, Allemande and Bourrée I II, while Ivona Šiško, a second-cycle student, played Prelude from Suite no. 5 BWV 1011.
Mirza Sijerčić, a second-year student, presented himself with a performance of “Sonatina” by the French composer Claude Pascal (1921-2017) with piano accompaniment by mr. Amila Čengić Music, and the interpretively challenging “Caprice en forme de valse” by Paul Bonneau (1918-1995) was played by Zoja Vuković. Rijad Šarić, a second-year student, interpreted the work “Clos Guinguet” by the French saxophonist and composer Jean-Denis Michat (b. 1971).
The final point of the concert was the Saxophone Quartet of the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo, which consists of Ivona Šiško (soprano saxophone), Rijad Šarić (alto saxophone), Mirza Sijerčić (tenor saxophone), and Zoja Vuković (baritone saxophone). This chamber ensemble performed a second movement, called "Sarajevo", from the composition "Ciudades" by Guillermo Lag (b. 1960).
According to epidemiological measures and orders of the competent institutions, the number of visitors was limited. Interested audience, who did not attend this event, can watch a recording of the concert on the official YouTube channel MAS Concert Season.
