The Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project – “Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing Libraries in Western Balkan Countries through Personnel Development and Reform of Library Services”, in whose implementation University of Sarajevo’s  outstanding participation was noted, was closed on a ceremony held at the University of Sarajevo’s Rectorate on Thursday, 20 September 2018.

Along with welcome address by Prof. Dr. Maida Čohodar Husić, UNSA Vice-Rector for Quality, Mr. Sc. Jerald Cavanagh, Project Leader, Limerick Institute of Technology and Doz. Dr. Lejla Hajdarpašić, UNSA project coordinator, project objectives, a review of carried out activities and evaluation of the UNSA bibliographic information systems in relation to the LNSS were presented.

The project began in October 2015, and the first partners’ meeting was held in 2016. In that year the carrying out of implementing projects foreseen activities started. Numerous activities were carried out, as particularly important featured activities resulting in the development of library-related strategic documents, LNSS curriculum development, the development of the online library platform - Springshare and the organization of the library awareness national day.

The project's intent, as the Doz. Hajdarpašić stated is bringing the Western Balkan states into a unique library network that will continue to exist even after the end of the project.
It was emphasized that through the project it was important to improve the management and availability of libraries in the Western Balkans via strategic planning and policy development and to establish and maintain network libraries with a view to spreading, sustaining and exploiting future project results at national and regional level.

The role of experts in project implementation was great, therefore project coordinators Jerald Cavanagh and Padraig Kirby from the Limerick Institute of Technology had an obligation to co-ordinate all EU and Western Balkan partners in order to implement the project more successfully.

The final ceremony was preceded by the project board of directors meeting where the project partners presented the activities and achievements that were realized over the previous three years at their institutions
