Stari Grad Mayor awarded “gold” and “silver” students from Stari Grad
Stari Grad Mayor, M.Sc. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić awarded students from the municipality of Stari Grad who received the highest University of Sarajevo awards - Gold and Silver Badges for outstanding results and a very high grade point average during the first or second cycle of studies.
In the company of the Municipal Council of Stari Grad Chairman, Dr. Mirza Batalović, Mayor Hadžibajrić presented these successful young people with diplomas and cash prizes. At the reception was present as well University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj.
In his address to students, Mayor Hadžibajrić said that this is a reward for all the effort they put in during schooling, and that he is committed to the Municipality of Stari Grad, despite all the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic, does not reduce scholarships for students.
Reception attendant, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector in his address expressed great gratitude to Mayor Hadžibajrić for recognizing and rewarding successful young people in his local community. “It is a great joy for me, as the rector of the University of Sarajevo, to have a mayor who accompanies scholarships and rewards his students. It is very important that young people have the support of the institutions of their local areas. Our state must keep these top students as the most valuable jewels, to systematically employ them” said Rector Škrijelj.
A University of Sarajevo Golden Badge recipient is Ena Muhić, who completed the first cycle of studies at the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo with an impressive average of 9.53. “This is the crown of four years of constant work and effort. The highest grades are not worth as much to me as the acquaintances with colleagues, professors and assistants. That precious period left a big mark on all of us, it gave us the wind in our backs to go further,” said this top student of the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo.
Amina Kadrić completed the first cycle of studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo with a grade point average of 9.02, and was awarded a silver badge. "First of all, this award means a lot to me as satisfaction for all my hard work and effort, given that the Faculty of Medicine requires a lot of sacrifice and effort. Thank you very much to Mayor Hadžibajrić, who appreciates our work and tries his best, regardless of the situation, the pandemic and everything else, to reward the students” said Amina, who is planning a specialization soon.
Admission of students is organized through the municipal Service for Education, Culture and Sports. All students received gold badges of 500 BAM each, and silver badges 300 BAM each. Diplomas and cash prizes were awarded to:
