Sarajevo Graphics Group at the conference "Virtual Archeology" in Russia
The "Virtual Archeology" conference is held every three years in Russia. The aim of the conference is to connect researchers of digital cultural heritage from Eastern and Western countries. After several editions held at the beautiful Hermitage Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, this year it was organized by the Siberian Federal University & The State Hermitage Museum in Krasnoyarsk.
Head of the Sarajevo Graphics Group laboratory from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Selma Rizvić has been involved in this conference since 2012 when she presented the activities of the EU FP7 project V-MusT.net (Virtual Museum Transnational Network).
The results of the H2020 iMARECULTURE project were presented in 2018. After these presentations she became a member of the Conference Program Committee.
This year, Sarajevo Graphics Group had presentations of three scientific papers at the conference, Virtual Reality Video in Digital Cultural Heritage Applications, by Bojan Mijatović and Selma Rizvić, Photogrammetry Case Studies by Tatjana Mijatović and Acting and Directing in Digital Cultural Heritage Applications by Selma Alispahić and Selma Rizvic.
Prof. Rizvić also gave an invitational lecture entitled Digital Technologies in preservation and presentation of cultural heritage, as well as a masterclass Interactive digital storytelling for virtual heritage.
In this way, the University of Sarajevo became the only institution from the Balkan region present in this environment. The organizers and participants of the conference, present both physically and online, are impressed by the work of researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina and have many ideas for establishing cooperation on joint projects. This is another indicator of the huge potential of digital technologies in the promotion and presentation of cultural heritage, as well as the excellent contribution to the visibility of the University of Sarajevo in international research circles.
