In memoriam – prof. dr. Safet Hadžović, emeritus

It is with deep sadness that Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sarajevo informs the employees and students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as well as the entire academic community, that on 2 February 2021, at the age of 89, the esteemed emeritus Prof. Dr. Safet Hadžović passed away.

He was born in Trebinje in 1932. He graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo, where he received his doctorate in 1962 and was an assistant professor, associate and full professor.

He has published 130 papers that have been published in well-known scientific journals. He has participated in numerous scientific gatherings and congresses in the country and abroad. He is the author of 10 books, two files and 160 pharmacological opinions for the registration of drugs from domestic and foreign manufacturers. He examined the correctness of the pharmaceutical-technological properties of over 85 drugs.

He was the main researcher in 6 scientific projects, the author of 8 new drug formulations, he introduced three new pharmacological methods for drug testing.

For over 26 years he was the editor of the journal Veterinaria for which he wrote 42 reviews of new books.

He won the award for the scientific work “Veselin Masleša” for 1978. He is the recipient of the American Order of Honor.

With his dedicated and intellectual work he left an indelible mark in the history of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

The funeral will take place on Friday, 5 February 2021, at 14:30 PM at the Bare City Cemetery.
