Minister Husić-Mehmedović and Rector Škrijelj visited the Faculties of Forestry, Mechanical Engineering and the Natural Sciences and Mathematics
Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth KS, Prof. Dr. Melika Husić-Mehmedović and University of Sarajevo Rector, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, together with Prof. Dr. Naris Pojskić, Council of the Natural-Mathematical and Biotechnical Sciences Group President, and Prof. Dr. Samir Dolarević, Council of the Group of Technical Sciences Group President, on Wednesday 17 February 2021, continued visits to the University of Sarajevo organizational units and on this occasion visited the Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The visits were organized in order to see the circumstances, in which the Faculties operate, and the priorities and problems that need to be addressed through joint action of the University and the Ministry, with the aim of continuous development of the University of Sarajevo and improving the quality of higher education.
During the visit, the Faculty managements were presented with current events related to the establishment of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of KS, as well as activities related to the preparation of a new law on higher education.
Minister Husić-Mehmedović emphasized that the law that is being prepared will be denormed, a modern law that comes from the academic community. Speaking about allocations for science, she reminded that this year the largest funds for science will be allocated than ever before, in the amount of three million KM, which will, among other things, enable the strengthening of research capacities.
During the visit of the management of all three faculties, they presented the key activities and results of the work to Minister Husić-Mehmedović, and especially emphasized the scientific contribution and achievements achieved through international cooperation. Also, the infrastructural capacities were presented, as well as the circumstances in which online classes are conducted. The possibilities of improving the realization of the teaching process were also discussed, as well as the ways of holding field teaching and laboratory exercises.
