70th Anniversary of Romanic Cultures, Languages and Literature Studying Conference
70TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROMANIC CULTURES, LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SARAJEVO FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY
9-11 October 2020, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Sarajevo
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Romance Department, UNSA Faculty of Philosophy, an international scientific conference is to be held from at the Faculty of Philosophy from 9 to 11 October 2020. This event is to mark the long tradition of studying Romanic languages and literature in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was not broken even in the most recent period of the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the meeting is to open new and produce existing connections of the Romanic world with this area through contemporary approaches to the Romance philology study.
Sarajevo, as a place that has been inhabited by different cultures for over a hundred years, is home to the largest Sephardic community in this area, such as the Judeo-Spanish language - ladino, which is the reason why it should be for a brief moment a meeting place for scholars who study Romanic languages, cultures, literature and translate from Romani languages and to Romance languages.
