UNSA: “Be what you are, study what you want”

The University of Sarajevo represents more than 500 study programs at its Faculties and Academies

Led by the goals of raising awareness about public education and the public interest and social responsibility, we decided to help all pupils, parents and pedagogical helpers with professional orientation.

This year’s University of Sarajevo  campaign “Be what you are, study what you want” presents in an interesting and unconventional way more than 500 study programs at its Faculties and Academies, as well as all the advantages and opportunities offered to young people within the oldest and most prestigious educational and scientific institution.
 
From February to September of this year through the campaign "Be what you are, study what you want" we will provide young people with crucial assistance in choosing the future profession through:

  • innovative information accessing via Internet: websites (www.unsa.ba, www.upis.unsa.ba), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Viber on: enrolment terms and criteria, competitive procedures for all three study cycles, ways of studying, scholarships, online enrollment options and interactive maps of Sarajevo with all, for future students, significant locations of the University of Sarajevo. On these media, information about Faculties/Academies of the University of Sarajevo is available through a bilingual Student’s Guide and through a range of available AV materials. The online availability of these content is a great opportunity for all interested to be informed in an interesting and simple way about the desired continuation of education;
  • the event “Be a student of UNSA Faculty/Academy for a Day” within which all UNSA Faculties/Academies will open their doors to all interested people on one day, during March and April, and enable direct introduction to teaching staff and teaching activities. The attendees will have the opportunity to attend lectures in addition to visiting faculties/academies;
  •  the central event “UNSA Open Day/Night” which will be held on 19 April 2019 at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which this year celebrates 131 years of existence and activity. All present will have the opportunity to be part of a cultural and artistic performance in an interesting and unconventional way and get acquainted with the rich tradition of these two institutions. This is also a chance to socialize with a conversation with the UNSA Rector and Faculties/Academies representatives;
  • special activity of organization and realization round table discussions and academic meetings. These are three round tables and workshops. The first roundtable on the topic "”Creation of an enrollment plan” was envisaged in March 2019 (participants: University of Sarajevo, KS Employment Service, KS Chamber of Commerce, KS Employers' Association, Ministry of Education, Science and Youth KS, Active Director of Secondary Schools ). The second round table (May 2019) will be on the topic “Transition from secondary to higher education.” The workshop in September 2019 will be on the topic “Teaching process at the University of Sarajevo and the labor market” (participants: University of Sarajevo, Employment Service KS, Chamber of Commerce of KS, Employers' Association KS, Ministry of Education, Science and Youth KS). An academic meeting on the topic "Improving the teaching process at the UNSA: Some Experiences from Finland" is planned (21 February 2019);
  • promotion in secondary schools in BiH;
  • street actions and performances of the University of Sarajevo Students’ Parliament and student associations at Faculties/Academies.

We are pleased to inform you that this year the University of Sarajevo marks 70 years of existence and 15 years of implementation of the Bologna concept of studying. This significant jubilee of the oldest higher education institution in BiH will be marked by a series of events and activities, one of which is "Be what you are, study what you want".

In the past seven decades, the University of Sarajevo has cultivated and developed knowledge in all areas of social, humanistic, medical, natural-mathematical and biotechnical, and technical sciences and arts, which earned the title of a respectable scientific institution that today offers a number of recognizable, comparable to most developed studies in the world.
