At the commemorative session held on 29 January 2020 in the University of Sarajevo Ceremonial Hall, family members, friends, colleagues, academic community members and numerous admirers bid farewell to Prof. Dr. Ćazim Sadiković, one of the foremost legal experts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

About the life and opus of Prof. Dr. Ćazim Sadiković spoke: on behalf of the University of Sarajevo and the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Jasminka Gradaščević-Sijerčić, UNSA Steering Committee Member and Head of the State and International Public Law Department at the Faculty of Law; Mr. Adil Kulenović, President of the Independent Intellectuals Association – Krug 99, on behalf of the Council of Bosniak Intellectuals Congress, Prof. Dr. Kasim Trnka; Doz. Dr. Emir Tahirović, University of Sarajevo Faculty of Public Administration Dean,  Prof. Dr. Sead Turčalo, Faculty of Political Sciences Dean; Prof. Dr. Nedžad Korajlić, Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies Dean, and Mr. Mato Tadić, Vice President of the Constitutional Court of BiH.

As the speakers at the commemorative session pointed out, Prof. Dr. Ćazim Sadiković participated in two groundbreaking events in the recent history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one relating to his role during the country's independence referendum and the other to his role as a member of the Arbitration Committee in the establishment of the Brčko District.

Prof. Dr. Jasminka Gradaščević-Sijerčić noted that Professor Sadiković was adorned with many human qualities, including composure and composure, and that he was a person who knew how to control emotions. These traits helped him, she stated, in his rich career in which he advocated the successful political organization of the country, but always on the premise that Bosnia and Herzegovina was and will be.

Expressing his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased professor, on behalf of the Council of the Bosniak Intellectuals Congress (VKBI), Prof. Dr. Kasim Trnka emphasized that in the fields of his expertise, Prof. Sadiković left behind a large opus that future generations will be able to use in their work. “We are grateful to Professor Sadiković for his entire opus left to us and for his contribution not only to the development of science and social events, but in the overall development of Bosnia and Herzegovina” concluded Trnka.

Faculty of Political Sciences Dean, Prof. Dr. Sead Turčalo pointed out that Sadiković's interest in human rights culminating in the book “Ljudska prava bez zaštite, “ was crowned in  1998 as the International Book of the Year by the eminent international committee.

Ćazim Sadiković was born in Ljubuški in 1935. He finished lyceum in Mostar, and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo. He enrolled in postgraduate studies at the European University Center in Nancy, France, where he obtained a master's degree in Law and Political Science from “Contemporary Aspects of Democracy in Europe” under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Denis Levy. He defended his doctoral thesis at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, under the mentorship of prof. Dr. Heli Modic. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Public Administration and He was the Faculty of Public Administration Dean and the founder and chairman of the Board of the Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies and a member of the University of Sarajevo Senate.

In 1961 Ćazim Sadiković began his academic career at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo and continued as a teacher at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo as a professor and Dean. He taught Introduction to Political Science, Introduction to Law, International Law, Human Rights and Political Systems. He performed several important social duties in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Europe.

He is the recipient of: the Charter of the Council of Bosniak Intellectuals Congress, December 2019; the Crystal Seal upon the Venice Commission’s 20th Anniversary in 2011, the Bronze Plaque in 2008 for exceptional merit (Pro Merito) for the work in the Democracy through Law Commission - the Venice Commission; his 1998 book, Human Rights Without Protection,  was declared by the International Committee of Robert Donia (Michigan), Francis J. Jones (Newcastle), Thomas Cushman (Welleslay), Ivo Banac (New Haven), Ivan Lovrenović, Rusmir Mahmutćehajić and Žarko Papić “Book of the Year”; City of Sarajevo’s Silver Plaque for Merit in the Advancement of Governance of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Capital (1987); University of Sarajevo Plaques with the Charter for Extraordinary Merits in the University of Sarajevo Program Work (1986).

Ćazim Sadiković was a commissioner in the Constitutional Affairs Commission (1974); member of the Editorial Commission for the drafting the SFRY Constitution in Brioni, and subsequently the Constitution of the SRBiH (1971), Chairman of the Legal Council of the SRBiH Assembly; Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
