The largest and most prestigious BH University promoted 5246 BA and MA graduates!

The formal graduation ceremony and diplomas awarding to MA and BA graduates from the University of Sarajevo was held at the Olympic Hall Zetra-Juan Antonio Samaranch in Sarajevo on Saturday, 1 December 2018. At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, University of Sarajevo Rector, Vice- Rectors and Faculties and Academies Deans promoted 5246 BA and MA graduates from the University of Sarajevo.

Rector Škrijelj pointed out that over the past seven decades, the University of Sarajevo promoted more than 166 000 graduates, more than 18 000 MA graduates and more than 3 thousand doctors of sciences, i.e. that University of Sarajevo’s staff, their ideas, contributions, views and relations left a mark at an entire century of Bosnian society.
“In the coming time, the expectations and demands of society in relation to universities are increasing. Therefore, we will work hard to build a knowledge society in the future, following all the European and world standards in order to make the University of Sarajevo even more successful, efficient and transparent institution. The integration process that we are conducting is the most important reform program in the modern history of our university, and this is the way in which our academic community together with the founder will persevere, aware of its importance, despite the challenges we almost daily face” "stressed Rector Škrijelj.

In his address to BA and MA graduates on the day of celebrating their success and the results of their educational endeavors and achievements, Rector Škrijelj sent his congratulations on behalf of the academic community saying “Be proud of yourself and your success, because at the end of your studies you enter a whole new world, a world that is burdened with many doubts and challenges at this moment, and which of has of you, having in mind your academic success, special expectations. I invite you to put your knowledge and skills acquired in the university into the function of BA and MA graduates were also addressed by Dr. Denis Zvizdić, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who emphasized that they must appreciate the acquired knowledge and that they are the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also expressed the change of generations in the country should happen as soon as possible.
“Today's day is actually a dividing line between the two stages of your lives. One is student, unforgettable, remaining permanently remembered and full of enthusiasm ending today, whereas other stages that begin and are much more serious and responsible, but also more challenging and more inventive” said Zvizdić,. He added that he would like to send several messages, of which, according to him, the most important thing is that they should remain aware of the fact that they acquired their knowledge and profession at the best and oldest University in Bosnia and Herzegovina. “And that you acquired it by persistent work, effort, renunciation, sleepless nights and constant acquisition of new knowledge, skills and competencies. For, as an old philosopher says, 'the roots of learning are bitter, but so the fruits will be sweet'. And so, take care of these values, mind the dignity of your professions” said Speaker Zvizdić.

Many successful experts from the fields of science, natural and social sciences, medicine, arts and sports attended and graduated from the University of Sarajevo. Edin Džeko, the BH national football team skipper who addressed the attendees via video link is also a University of Sarajevo graduate:

All graduates from first, second and integrated first and second cycles received diplomas at Olympic Hall. Also at the Ceremony 181 students received special awards from the University of Sarajevo: Golden Badge, Silver Badge and Charter of the University of Sarajevo.

In the first cycle of the studies, 30 graduates were awarded the Golden Badge, the highest recognition of the University of Sarajevo, 81 graduates Silver Badge, whereas the Charter of the University of Sarajevo was awarded to 5 graduates.
In the Integrated I and II cycles, 3 students were awarded the Golden Badge, 9 students Silver Badge, and the University Charter in Sarajevo was given to 1 student.

Rector Škrijelj presented the University of Sarajevo awards and cash prizes to the best students of the first and second cycle of studies. The best students of the first cycle of studies in 2018 with an average of 10.00 are Abdulah Jašarević and Demir Papić from the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The best student of the second cycle of studies with an average of 9.98 is Harun Išerić from the Faculty of Law.

The University of Sarajevo is by its capacities and importance, tradition and the number of students enrolling and completing their education is still the leading educational institution in the country. The results achieved by the University of Sarajevo in the past year, followed by new, reformed and innovated study programs, have so far brought the best position of the University of Sarajevo at the world ranking list: Webometrics, where among the 28 thousand ranked universities, the University of Sarajevo found its place among the 6.2 % of the best in the world. In order to at least partially show all the University presents, the Academy of Fine Arts students recorded a short film that is screened at the Promotion.
The Choir and Orchestra of the Music Academy participated in the artistic part of the program.
